Parsley Growing Conditions
Parsley is normally grown in full sun. Because it thrives in cool conditions, it tolerates partial shade. It prefers light, well-structured, fresh, and humus-rich soils. It requires consistent moisture. It is frost-resistant, so much so that it overwinters in the garden in most regions, as long as there is sufficient snow cover. Parsley requires mature compost; the soil should be amended for its cultivation with 1 t of mature compost per 100 m2. A pH between 6 and 7 is suitable.
Crop rotation
Parsley is grown in the second year of rotation, after the more demanding plants. However, it is often grown with tomatoes, which allows for good yields without hindering air circulation at the base of the tomatoes.
Parsley Companionship
Parsley is a good companion to tomatoes. It can also be grown alongside brassicas, lettuce, chicory, and other leafy vegetables.
