Blacktail Mountain pour le melon d'eau, prêt en 70 jours. Le melon d'Oka et le Charentais mûrissent en 80 à 85 jours après transplantation avec du paillis noir et une couverture flottante.

Peut-on semer le melon directement au jardin ?

Au Québec, non : la saison est trop courte. Semez à l'intérieur au début de mai en pots de tourbe, et transplantez sans toucher aux racines au début de juin.

Comment savoir si le melon d'Oka est mûr ?

Il se détache du pédoncule à la moindre pression et son parfum se sent à un mètre. S'il faut tirer, il n'est pas prêt.
